Edmund Beattie was the son of Thomas and Maria Beattie. He was born on 2nd April 1887 in Lurganboy. He was one of eight children. They were a farming family who lived in Lurganboy. Edmund emigrated to Canada. Prior to enlisting Edmund was living in Toronto and was working as a salesman. Edmund Beattie enlisted on 13th March 1916 at Whitby, Ontario. Private Edmund Beattie served with the 116th Battalion of the Canadian Infantry. Private Beattie was discharged on 16th May 1919 in Toronto.
